LinkedIn and the Alumni Network

LinkedIn: Learn how to create an effective LinkedIn profile, how you may utilize social media to expand your network and find current news and helpful tips, and how it may help for current and future internship and job pursuits.  It is important to create your profile now, while you are in contact with 40,000+ other students!

Alumni Network: The U of I Alumni Association has some great tools to utilize!  We will walk you through some of them including the Alumni Network, a way to search for alumni.

Online Presence: What does your online profiles say about you?  We will show you some helpful tools to ensure employers do not have the wrong impression of you.

Asking Alumni Questions: When you are networking with alumni or attending a presentation, what are the right questions to ask?  What should you expect?  With the upcoming alumni panel (and more to come), it is important you make the most of your time with them.

Econ Social Event

Get to know your fellow Econ majors!  This is a great time to speak with other students, build friendships, your network, and hear how they are involved on campus and what internships and experiences they have done.  Students from the International Student Advisory Committee (ISAC), the Econ Club, Econ Ambassadors, and other declared and interested students will be present (faculty and staff will be invited for the first hour).  

This event is run by the student groups and they will have some activities to get to know each other.  A variety of appetizers will be provided for you to enjoy.

Econ Alumni Panel: Young Alumni

This panel featured:

Jessica Ahn (B.A. 2014) – Sales Coordinator, Dom & Tom 

John W. Schneider (M.S. 2014) – Junior Researcher, Anheuser-Busch InBevMatt Bunyon (B.A. 2012) – Economist, Bureau of Labor Statistics 2-3pm: The panelists will talk about their current positions, their recent job searches, and answer questions.3-4pm: Stay after the panel to get to know the panelists a little more. They will provide tips and tricks about the job hunt (prepare for difficult interview questions).

IntlConnect: International Student Career Certificate (ICC) Program

• Due to the developmental purpose of the program, students in their final semester may not be chosen.
